A new initiative which will help you navigate your personal financial maze has just been launched by True Potential in conjunction with the Open University. True Potential, who provides the technology behind our clients’ websites, has developed this interactive on-line course to support clients in developing their personal financial understanding. And it’s free to all Glamorgan 1:1 customers!

Taking place over an eight week period the ‘Managing My Money’ course is designed to help families to better understand and manage their finances; as well as keeping pace with their children as they begin their new financial curriculum which is being taught in schools from September 2014.

The course is delivered via the Open University online social-learning platform, FutureLearn, and involves around three hours study each week. Delivery is via an array of engaging resources such as audio-visual clips, interactive discussions and quizzes. Topics covered include:

• how to compile a budget
• making effective decisions about saving and spending
• managing and understanding personal debt
• how mortgages are used to finance home ownership
• pension planning and information about the different pension products available
• how to make rational decisions when buying insurance

You can register for ‘Managing My Money’ here.

Start date is Monday 12th May and people can join the course up until Sunday 25th May.
